The church began as a mission in the summer of 1951 in Detroit, Michigan in a lodge hall by our founder Pastor J.D. Young. The first church building was purchased on November 18, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan.
On April 3, 1968 land was purchased in a little farm town called "Roseville" and the building had begun. On January 26, 1969 the first services were held at the new "Temple Baptist Church of Roseville". In June 1981, Pastor Young semi-retired and began preaching in retirement homes. Then, Associate Pastor John T. Veal took over as senior Pastor. On February 9, 2003 Pastor Harvey Lee (who has been a member for many years) was licensed and became an Associate Pastor. Lee became the Senior Pastor in 2013. November 15, 2021 Pastor Lee stepped down from the position and Pastor John Sanders became the Senior Pastor with his wife Vicki Sanders. |
Pastor John Sanders is our Senior Pastor. He and his wife Vicki Sanders were members about 12 years ago and John served as Music Director and Song Leader. He was ordained and licensed in the Ministry of the Gospel. During this time, he continued preaching and served as Music director at multiple churches. Brother John was asked and voted by Temple Baptist to become Assistant Pastor and rejoined the church on September 9, 2018. Sister Vicki Sanders helps teach in the Children's Sunday School and Junior Church.
